DRUG POSSESSION CHARGES
If you are arrested for a drug possession charge, the Law Office of Ward Maedgen
can help you. Most clients who contact us about their
drug charge case don't understand that
their rights may have been violated. We serve clients charged with both federal
drug offenses, and state offenses under the Texas Controlled Substances Act,
including those
related to:
Drug Possession For Sale, Sales, Attempts to Sell
Importation
Transportation
Cultivation
Distribution and Conspiracy to Violate Drug or Narcotic Laws
Drug Trafficking
Manufacturing Controlled Substances and/or Possession of Chemicals for Drug Manufacturing
Whether a client is facing charges for marijuana, cocaine, crack, heroin, LSD, mescaline, amphetamines, methamphetamine (meth), or any other drug, we can help.
Drug crimes are one of the most widely prosecuted crimes in Texas state and federal courts.
In every drug crime case, we ask:
(1) Was the search and seizure lawful?
(2) Was your detention illegal?
(3) Can the government prove that you possessed the drugs beyond a reasonable
doubt? Often, the answers to
these and other questions can have your case thrown out of court.
What rights do I have?
The Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution states that every citizen
has the right to be free from illegal searches and seizures.
The officer began the search without my permission, what can I do?
In most situations before the officer searches a car, a bag, or even pats a
person down for weapons the officer must be able to state specific reasons why
or the whole arrest and search is illegal. Most people do not know that in most
situations the officer must receive consent from the person before beginning a
search. Many clients did not realize that they could have refused the search
that the officers conducted. My arrest was probably illegal, but I can't afford
to fight, so I might as well take a plea.
Most of the time people can not afford NOT to fight. After probation and
possibly jail, taking a cheap plea can end up costing thousands of dollars in
fines alone. In some situations defendants can lose their jobs and/or be
deported out of the country.
If you have been arrested or charged with Drug Possession For Sale, Drug
